"Southwestern Ontario is not a wilderness. It is a cultivated landscape of agriculture and industry, dissected by major highways and pressured by the sad tedium of urban sprawl. And yet, for anyone who has spent time in the region, the first-hand experience of nature runs deep. We live on beautiful land.

What does it mean to be a regional artist? This show looks at regional artists as those whose appreciation for nature goes well beyond tourism, people who engage in a complex give and take relationship with the world around them. Some of the artists in this exhibition have lived in the region for a long time. Others are just passing through. All of them are devoted to a considered art practice, using their skills to pose questions about the intersections of nature and culture."
