Organized in Collaboration with the University of Waterloo Art Gallery (UWAG)
Exhibition Funded By: Musagetes

"From the very beginning of the arc of his painting practice — which began forty years ago in Chicago — his paintings have always been chromatically intense, theatrical and hierarchical…Green's painting has gradually come to define and then employ a flexible, elastic language of symbols, a discourse of depicted things, codified into a grammar of belief and finally into a canon of meaning."  - Gary Michael Dault

Art Green - Heavy Weather
Heavy Weather: Art Green Retrospective, 2005.
This first comprehensive survey of Art Green's paintings spans 40 years from his days in Chicago as a member of the infamous Hairy Who group, throughout his Halifax, Vancouver and Kitchener years. With works loaned from the artist and numerous private and public collectors in the United States and Canada, the exhibitions at KW|AG and UWAG exuberantly delineate the outstanding career of one of the region's finest artists and educators.

Collaborating with KW|AG in this celebration of Art Green's career is UWAG, which will feature an exhibition of Art's most recent paintings with a timeline component.

Heavy Weather is complemented by a catalogue which features images of each of the works in the exhibition and an essay by guest writer, Gary Michael Dault.
