Over the past two years, Expressions explored how we examine and express our common interests and ideas through art. A vibrant and diverse assortment of student work, combined with examples from KW|AG's Permanent Collection, opens discussion about identity, home, memory, story telling, language, society, environment, discovery and innovation. Building on these thematic connections, this year's exhibition will explore how we see the world at different stages in our lives, particularly through childhood, youth and into adulthood through selections of art from the collection.
With each year of Expressions, the Gallery aspires to highlight and contribute to the work of educators who bring art into the every-day for their students. We are proud to continue partnerships with the Waterloo Region District School Board and the Waterloo Catholic District School Board; we prioritize our role as a community resource and advocate for arts education.
Art opens minds, encourages observation, discussion, and reflection. Art is a medium for shared experience. We believe these qualities are the foundation for the kind of teaching, learning, and relationship-building essential to creating a strong and healthy community.
