Docents/gallery guides
Docents (gallery guides) are an integral part of the KW|AG's ability to create a learning environment that is stimulating, challenging and progressive. By engaging visitors in dialogue related to specific works of art, docents assist them in developing visual and analytical skills, and explore issues that are pertinent, relevant or critical to individual groups.
Docents help deliver studio-based and exhibition related programming throughout the year. Gallery docents are responsible for providing tours of current exhibitions to school and public groups.
The docent position is ideal for working professional artists or retired teachers who are interested in engaging with the Gallery, teaching and engaging with youth, families, and adults and contributing to the community in an educational context. Flexible, part-time hours vary according to week and season. Our docents are considered part of our department roster and every effort is made to provide docents with work throughout the year.
